Essential Functions

  • Must value safety over and above all other considerations

  • Construction and repair of overhead RF and Fiber Service

  • Ability to perform construction work, such as digging holes and climbing telephone poles, pulling and stringing cables from pole to pole, as well as laying cable and conduit

  • Understanding of equipment and inventory

  • Ability to troubleshoot RF and Fiber line issues

  • Reads and interprets work orders to determine work to be done, as well as completing paperwork for jobs that are finished

  • Follow safety rules and practices, complying with OSHA standards

  • Self-motivated individual with a drive for success to perform all job requirements with an emphasis on safety and team

  • The individual should be versatile and possess the ability to assist in any part of the technical construction

  • Must be able to work in a team environment on the crew and be a valued member of the team and the company.

  • Communicate in person, by phone and radio with supervisor, Construction Manager, and co-workers

Work Environment

  • Must be willing to travel out of market/state, for up to two weeks at a time.

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background, drug testing, and DOT physical

  • May be required to work long and unpredictable hours.

  • Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather.

  • Must possess valid driver's license. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a plus

Supervisory Responsibility

Must pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing and participate in random testing program

Required Knowledge

  • Ability to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc.

  • Good computer skills required.

  • Ability to use electrical multimeter for testing AC and DC circuits

  • Ability to build RJ45 ethernet cables using 568B standard.

  • Ability to demonstrate proper use of power/hand tools.

Job Related Certification

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); related trade school education preferred.

  • 1-2 years experience working on a civil construction crew or 2-3 years working under a licensed electrician.

  • Room Ready knowledge preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead construction crew to complete project.
